The Summer shoe scene is starting to really heat up with the drop of the Nike Metcon 5. The 5th generation of the Metcon has turned heads not just for it's new look, but also it's new key features.
With over 4 years of collecting Metcon research, data, and feedback, Nike has designed a sleek looking training shoe that delivers in all the areas that matter to athletes.
Durability
The intensity, high volume, and variety of movements that make up our training requires a shoe that can handle a beating. The upper of the Metcon 5 features a new haptic chain-link pattern that is more resistant to tearing and rips. A directional pattern on the enlarged rope wrap gives you more grip and control for rope climbs and descents.
Comfort
A redone tongue provides more cushioning for a better fit and less irritation. The dual-density drop-in midsole offers a softer more responsive and flexible feel for all high impact movements.
Versatility
The heel of the Metcon 5 has been slightly widened to improve your overall stability during training. Every Metcon 5 comes with a pair of removable Nike Hyperlift inserts that increases the heel to toe offset, essentially turning your Metcons into lifters (8mm for Men and 6mm for Women)! Simply slip them into the heels to give yourself more range of motion when weightlifting heavier loads. A quick flip of the Metcon 5 will reveal a brand new outsole pattern made from a stickier more durable rubber for better traction and a longer lasting lifespan.
I have switched from the Nanos to the Metcons die to the fact that running in them has become more comfortable than other CrossFit shoes. The style is current as well as the variety of colors!!! These new ones will be a wonderful add to my collection.
